New Route 403 between Route 4, Route 1 and the Quonset Business Park

Route 4/Route 403 ramps and exits

Construction will continue through Summer 2009 on the new Route 403, but all new ramps and lanes are now open. The eight-year, $130 million Route 403 Relocation Project involved the construction of a new limited access highway, new interchanges with Route 4 and Route 1 and many other changes. The promise of direct highway access to the growing Quonset Business Park has been fulfilled.

Motorists traveling on Route 4 South should use Exit 7B to access Route 403 toward Quonset. Also at this ramp, motorists can chose Exit 7A for access to Frenchtown Road (Route 402). RIDOT also completely rebuilt an intersection on Frenchtown Road allowing access to the former Route 403 (Davisville Road and Devil's Foot Road).

The new Route 4/Route 403 interchange also includes two ramps that were not part of the original interchange. Those heading north on Route 4 will now be able to use Exit 7 for direct access to Route 403. This eliminates the need to use other local roads to reach the Quonset Business Park. The other new ramp allows direct access from Route 403 West to Route 4 South.
