RIDOT has produced a series of 12 podcasts, six in English and six in Spanish. The content featured in the podcasts uses footage shot during construction, with small amounts of supplemental video and lots of still photos. Wait a minute - what's a podcast?
With this new technology, RIDOT seeks to reach a larger audience. Teens and young adults don't rely on traditional media, and RIDOT wants to make sure their needs for information are being met.
RIDOT's podcasts are designed to reach an typically under-targeted audience, young adults and the Spanish language market. You can access the podcasts here, and they are also available on YouTube in English and Spanish. We hope that the podcasts are spread through "viral marketing," that is, not just by RIDOT and the sites mentioned here, but also by those who view them and send them on to friends and family through email.
All podcasts are closed-captioned for the hearing impaired. When opening the video, place your cursor over the red "CC" button. Select "Transcribe Audio" from the pop-up menu and begin playing the movie.
