The InterLink project at T.F Green State Airport has received two prestigious awards this year celebrating the $267 million transportation hub that ties together air, train, and bus travel and a combined rental car facility under one roof. The InterLink opened in October 2010.

RIDOT, and its project partners, including the Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC), Amtrak, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), on November 3 received the New England Railroad Club 2011 Presidents’ Award for the InterLink.

Established in 1883, the New England Railroad Club is dedicated to the sharing of information and knowledge pertaining to the design, construction and operations of railroads in the region.  The Presidents’ Award honors those that enhance railroad services in the region and that further contribute to the regional economy and quality of life.

On June 7, RIDOT and RIAC earned an America’s Transportation Award from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) for the construction of the InterLink. Given in the category of Innovative Management, the award recognizes creative transportation solutions that improve the movement of people, goods and services, and that enhance community life.
