The Sponsor-A-Highway Program is for an individual or business not interested in doing the physical cleanups but wants to participate in helping to keep our state beautiful. The Sponsor-A-Highway Program provides the Department of Transportation with a resource for cleaning up our highways and does not affect our budget. Currently, there are three companies participating who perform the litter cleanups 19 times per calendar year for all the sponsored two-mile segments. Interstate highways and high speed roads are available for adoption in this program which include Interstates 95, 195, 295, and Routes 4, 6, 10, 24, 78, 146 and the Airport Connector. There is a fee associated with this Privatized Program; in exchange the Sponsors have a recognition panel on the Sponsor-A-Highway sign in their 2-mile segment also, the company name is placed on the list of Current Sponsor A Highway Segments to recognize their civic mindedness.
